Swami Dayananda Saraswati is counted among the stalwarts who helped reform the Indian education system through his pragmatic views integrated deeply with Vedic culture. Swami Dayananda was the first reformer to advocate swaraj and Swadesh.
Swami Dayananda did not believe in idol worship, the rituals, and the caste system, rather he exhorted all Hindus irrespective of caste and creed to “go back to Vedas” and follow the system in its purest form. He founded the Arya Samaj which became a fulcrum to his work in weaving the pure Vedic thoughts with modern ideologies.
He encouraged people to learn English in order to understand and study modern scientific advancements in the world. He vowed to work towards the spread of Vedic message and removing ignorance and superstition among the Hindu society
